The BYD Tang was first introduced to us in 2024 through the BYD Tang pure electric version. It gave us a proper seven-seat SUV with a spacious, luxurious, and sleek design—with a pure EV driving range of 530km, which is great for traveling to closer regions.

Now, BYD Car Philippines has released the all-new BYD Tang DM-i, which aims to be the Filipino family hybrid SUV. With an increased range that is better than that of its EV counterpart, the Tang DM-i has a premium feel and intelligent safety features. Managing director Bob Palanca states that the Tang DM-i is the biggest SUV unit in their lineup and hints at more of the brand’s future expansion into the Super DM-i technology.

Under the hood, it utilizes BYD’s Super DM-i technology that combines a 21.5kWh Blade battery with a turbocharged onboard generator, bringing its total to 267hp and 315Nm of torque. Within 7.5 seconds, this SUV can achieve 0-100km/h while still ensuring both safety and power.

In terms of charging efficiency, the car can charge from 15% to 100% in three hours using AC power. Meanwhile, via DC charging, the vehicle can charge from 30% to 80% in 22 minutes.

The Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) function transforms the SUV into your power outlet for your devices, especially beneficial during power outages, long-distance travel, or even when you just want to camp in a nearby city.

This being a hybrid SUV, it has a combined driving range of over 1,000km, which suits out-of-town vacations with less range anxiety, almost doubling the distance of the Tang pure EV. If you want to utilize its pure EV driving mode, it can reach 110km in one charge, which is great for short distances and city driving. Whether you’re bringing your child to school, or going to work, or heading off to that weekend getaway, the Tang DM-i has you covered.

Inside, the Tang DM-i has seven spacious seats, providing a comfortable legroom. Its gray interiors and sleek modern design highlight the usage of high-quality materials. The advanced infotainment system has a wide 15.6-inch touchscreen alongside the sonorous 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system.

Priced at ₱2,098,000, the Tang DM-i has three colors: Moonstone Gray, Pearl White, and Silver Sand Black.

If you’re considering buying an electrified vehicle, this car is not a bad choice.
