Just like how Hyundai has the N sub-brand for sports cars, its luxury arm Genesis is now delving into high-performance vehicles with the Magma program.
The GV60 Magma Concept takes Genesis’s currently existing electric vehicle and beefs up its battery and motor. Meanwhile, the exterior has been redesigned to improve aerodynamics and cooling efficiency. The volcanic color scheme extends to the interior with orange and titanium gray accents.
“The brand will continue to reveal experimental concepts with careful consideration of both technological and aesthetic elements,” said Genesis chief creative officer Luc Donckerwolke. “While speed and performance are important, the Genesis Magma program will look beyond, prioritizing the driving experience to kindle the joy of sporty driving with effortless comfort.”
Donckerwolke isn’t alone as he and his team will be guided by veteran racing driver Jacky Ickx, known for being a former Formula 1 driver and a six-time winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
The GV60 Magma Concept is currently on display along with the G80 Magma Special, the X Gran Berlinetta Concept, and the Neolun Concept at this year’s New York International Auto Show until April 8.
