Marikina City illuminates its bike paths

The LGU has installed almost 100 LED lights

In case you didn’t know, one of the hidden gems of Marikina City is its dedicated bike paths. It’s fun riding there since you don’t have to worry about motor vehicles. But once night falls, the leisure turns into horror when you can’t see what’s in front of you.

That’s why the LGU installed almost 100 LED lights throughout the creek-side stretch from Champagnat Street in Marikina Heights to Goodrich Village in Concepcion Uno. This effort complements the LGU’s cleanup operations to make sure the creek and the streets are clear and unobstructed.

Hindi ito decorative lamang,” said Marikina City mayor Maan Teodoro. “Ang gusto natin ay magamit nang maayos at safe ang ating mga bike lanes. At gusto natin na damihan pa natin ito.”

According to Congressman Marcy Teodoro, developing green spaces such as playgrounds and parks is part of good governance because they develop a sense of community among people. Good infrastructure isn’t a luxury—it should be the standard. Hopefully, more city governments follow in Marikina’s footsteps when it comes to taking care of their streets.
