Megaworld Corporation has just debuted new charging stations at Uptown Parade (Bonifacio Global City) by the ground floor of the steel deck parking. The charger for e-bikes and e-scooters is a CHRG Post 5-JP with two terminals using an SAE J1772 connector. Meanwhile, electric cars can be charged using the BYD 7kW AC charger with a GB/T adapter for Chinese cars and a CCS2 adapter for European models.

The “Park, Charge, Drive” initiative was done in collaboration with government agencies such as the Department of Science and Technology, the Department of Energy, the Department of Transportation, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, along with the support of BYD Philippines and Electric Vehicle Association of the Philippines.

When people usually think of electric vehicles, electric cars usually come to mind. However, the reality is that most EVs in the Philippines aren’t cars, but light mobility vehicles such as e-scooters, e-bikes and e-trikes due to their affordability. Amid the horrible traffic congestion, the poor public transportation, and the expensive fuel prices, light mobility EVs provide a sustainable and practical alternative for commuting, and that’s why it’s good that Megaworld Lifestyle Malls is providing the infrastructure to make adoption easier.

These charging facilities will be free on a first-come, first-served basis with four more charging stations in the works, so expect to see them also in other malls such as Eastwood City, McKinley Hill, Forbes Town, and Arcovia City.
